Follow a website request.
Four pieces work together to give a static website an address, a secure connection, and a place to store its files.
DNS finds the destination.
A domain name is a readable address. DNS records connect that address to the service delivering the website.
HTTPS secures the connection.
A TLS certificate lets the browser verify the website’s domain and establish an encrypted connection. CloudFront can redirect HTTP visitors to HTTPS.
CloudFront delivers the content.
CloudFront is a content delivery network. It can cache files closer to visitors and retrieve them from the origin when needed.
S3 stores the files.
Amazon S3 holds the HTML, styles, scripts, and images. Origin Access Control allows CloudFront to retrieve files while the bucket stays private.
